The Ocean Bottle: launch event for LBS Incubator start-up
The Ocean Bottle, a business started up by four LBS graduates with support from the Incubator Programme, will host its launch event in the Dining Room at Sussex Place on Tuesday 6 November at 7:00 PM.
The launch will introduce The Ocean Bottle – a new stainless steel reusable bottle with in-built smart chip – as well as the crowdfunding campaign behind its creation to continuously fund plastic collection.
Additionally, as consumers replenish their bottle at partner locations, the smart chip will fund plastic collectors to develop long-term recycling infrastructure in impoverished coastal regions.
By developing partnerships with lunch chains, beverage stores, water fountain suppliers and corporates, the company is not only looking to incentivise the use of its bottle, but also drive the Ocean Bottle community to deliver more impact.
The event will be co-hosted with the Entrepreneurship Club and Social Impact Club, and will also see a world-class keynote speaker address the issue of oceanic plastic.
Each Ocean Bottle funds the collection of 12kg of plastic, the equivalent of 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles. To highlight the volume of this undertaking, the School will be hosting an installation of 1000 plastic bottles in Ratcliffe Reception, from 16 October until the launch night.
