The number of crowdfunding platforms, online platforms that facilitate fundraising from dozens of people, has grown exponentially since 2010. Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, pursuing a social cause, or seeking to earn a favourable return on your savings, you have likely come across the term. Yet, we understand little about the crowdfunding landscape, and the opportunities and threats it holds.
