Mayday, Mayday! Call for volunteers to help the homeless

Have you ever wondered what to say or do when you encounter a homeless person – if anything? The School’s Community Action Group is running a ‘lunch and learn’ session between 11.45 and 12.45 on Wednesday 1 May (venue to be confirmed) to explore the various ways in which we can lend our support.

We will be joined by three speakers:

  • Andy Palfreyman (pictured above) will share some of his experiences of life on the street. Andy was homeless for 30 years before a chance encounter with a member of the public changed his life forever.
  • Richard Knight was drawn to a career in the charity sector after a spell in hospitality management. He currently leads and co-ordinates the volunteers at Streetlink, which connects rough sleepers to services that can support them.
  • Jack Bourne, an Associate Director in Advancement at LBS, will talk about his experience as a volunteer with West London Mission and why he feels passionately about supporting the homeless.

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Tina Clark by emailing to confirm your place.

Lunch will be provided.
