Mayday, Mayday! Call for volunteers to help the homeless
Have you ever wondered what to say or do when you encounter a homeless person – if anything? The School’s Community Action Group is running a ‘lunch and learn’ session between 11.45 and 12.45 on Wednesday 1 May (venue to be confirmed) to explore the various ways in which we can lend our support.
We will be joined by three speakers:
- Andy Palfreyman (pictured above) will share some of his experiences of life on the street. Andy was homeless for 30 years before a chance encounter with a member of the public changed his life forever.
- Richard Knight was drawn to a career in the charity sector after a spell in hospitality management. He currently leads and co-ordinates the volunteers at Streetlink, which connects rough sleepers to services that can support them.
- Jack Bourne, an Associate Director in Advancement at LBS, will talk about his experience as a volunteer with West London Mission and why he feels passionately about supporting the homeless.
If you’d like to attend, please RSVP to Tina Clark by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your place.
Lunch will be provided.
