Library update - new Research Repository and Open Access
The School Research Repository and Open Access
This Autumn the School has been developing an institutional repository. This is an online collection of our research outputs that will include journal articles and conference proceedings and potentially book chapters, working papers and PhD theses in full-text format. Materials within the repository will be stored as our institutional legacy.
The need for a repository is driven by both the global Open Access agenda and the requirements of UK funding bodies. Funders increasingly require that peer reviewed journal articles be published in journals compliant with RCUK Policy on Open Access while HEFCE have introduced a new Policy for open access in the post-2014 Research Excellence Framework, that requires certain research outputs be made open access to be eligible for submission to the next REF. This policy must be fully implemented by 1 April 2016.
The institutional repository will help manage our research outputs and ensures they comply with both funder and publisher requirements.
An open access repository is of great value. It will give immediate visibility and access to our research output, increasing both our research impact and citation counts. It also ensures we continue to receive global recognition for the quality of the work that the Research Excellence Framework gives us.
The Institutional Repository has been acquired, and is being developed by IT, the Library and RFO. If you have any questions or comments please email email@example.com
