How to survive sitting at your desk all day

Sitting at a computer for long periods of time can cause neck and shoulder stiffness, and occasionally back pain. The gym has recommended these stretches for you to do throughout the day.

Desk stretches

Try to get up and walk around the office as often as possible and do these stretches every hour or so throughout the day. You will feel a lot better for it!

Home workout

You could also do this simple home workout. Depending on your fitness level, aim to do two, three or four rounds with a one minute rest after each round, and build up:
  • Press ups x 45 seconds
  • Squats x 45 seconds
  • Mountain Climbers x 45 seconds
  • Lunges x 45 seconds (each leg)
  • Crunches x 45 seconds
  • Tricep Dips x 45 seconds
  • Burpees x 45 seconds
  • Plank x 45 seconds

The School offers online DSE assessment training and an assessment system. If a more detailed assessment is required, a health and safety consultation can be arranged.
