Final call for applications to attend One Young World Summit in October

Do you have experience creating positive social change in your community and beyond? Then why not apply to join the School's delegation to the 2019 One Young World (OYW) Summit! The deadline to apply for your place is 17:00 on Monday 12 August.

We have managed to secure two sponsored delegate places, and are looking for members of staff who have a proven track record of involvement in community projects who also show leadership skills to be part of the School's delegation.

What is One Young World?
One Young World (OYW) is the leading global forum for young leaders committed to realising positive change.

If your application is successful, you will meet like-minded people, and hear from renowned figures working in business, politics and the arts who are committed to making a positive impact. Attending the summit will provide you with the inspiration and skills needed to help you support the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals and realise your ambitions.

When and Where?
The 2019 OYW Summit will run from 22 to 25 October 2019; most events will be in Westminster, London. You must be available for this duration and your own accommodation costs will be covered.

What is One Young World?
More than 1,800 talented young leaders from over 190 countries who are committed to accelerating social impact will be taking part in the 10th annual One Young World Summit. Making progress towards the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals is core to OYW's aims.

Delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panel debates, networking events and workshops to develop solutions for the world’s most pressing issues.

Speakers at previous summits have included Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Justin Trudeau, Sir Richard Branson, Sir Bob Geldof, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. Further details on the 2019 OYW Summit are available online.

The LBS Delegation will comprise an exclusive number of current (2019 class) and incoming (2020 class) students from the School’s Early Career programmes. This year we are delighted to sponsor two young staff delegates to attend.

After the Summit
Delegates return with the tools needed to pursue a personal project that will make a real difference. You can choose to develop existing initiatives or spearhead new ventures. Previous projects have included:

Help for a Drop of Water which improves access to clean water in Ethiopia
Ishtar Handmade Soap which provides Iraqi women with the opportunity for self-sufficiency
Chicas en Tecnología which delivers technology programmes to girls

You can discover more about other projects developed by previous summit delegates in the OYW Impact Report 2018.
