That companies may default on their debt is important for several reasons. Indeed, the amount of capital a bank needs - a critical issue in the recent financial crisis - depends on the default probability of its loans. However, corporate default probabilitlies are very difficult to measure.
In this lecture, Stephen will discuss his and Peter Feldhütter’s (formerly of London Business School and now at Copenhagen Business School) work on how to better estimate whether a company will default. He will also explain the complex issue of corporate debt pricing.
Stephen Schaefer's work focuses on fixed income markets, risk management, credit risk and financial regulation. Read his full profile on london.edu.
