Are you tough enough for Spartathlon?

Since 1983, the has Spartathlon aimed to trace the footsteps of Pheidippides, an Athenian messenger sent to Sparta from Athens in 490 BC to seek help against the Persians in the Battle of Marathon.

Thankfully the Fitness Centre isn't going to task you with a 153-mile run or send you to Greece, but they do have something else up their sleeves.

For the month of November, the Fitness Centre will be hosting a Spartathlon for those who are brave enough to take on the challenge!



15 Pull Ups

15 Pull Up (feet on floor)

15 each side Dumbell Squat & Clean 10kg

15 each side Dumbell  Squat & Clean 3kg

40 Press Ups

20 Press up on knees

25 Box Jumps

10 Box Jumps

15 Tricep Dips

15 Tricep Dips on Box

15 Burpees

15 Burpees

80 Russian Twist 4kg

60 Russian Twist 2kg

Visit the Fitness Centre at any time in November and ask one of the instructors to supervise and time you. There are various prizes to be won, including free classes and a towel card.

The winners (who complete the challenge in the shortest time) will be announced at the beginning of December and will have pride of place on the Fitness Centre's members board.
