Taylor Ceithaml and Leo Kearney - MBA 2019 and Sundowners Captains
Can you tell us briefly about the journeys you’ve taken to get to LBS and what attracted you to join?
Taylor: I was an Industrial Engineer for Disney theme parks but was looking to switch my career and take some time out of work. While researching MBA programmes, I came across LBS and decided that a degree from an international school with such a focus on global diversity fit my goals of working in the hospitality industry perfectly. Being based in London with cheap flights throughout Europe and lots of time to travel didn’t hurt either!
Leo: I was a chemical engineer working in the construction of industrial processes in Australia but I got tired of that lifestyle and decided I needed a change. I was attracted to the global and flexible nature of LBS but I also had friends come to LBS in the past and their Facebook photos looked as though they were constantly having fun for the two years they were here. That was when I first heard of Sundowners and knew I needed it in my life!
How did you get involved with Sundowners and why did you decide to do this?
Taylor: I joined Sundowners because of how much I loved the events last year. Being a part of the crew lets me spend more time with my friends and plan some of LBS’s best events!
Leo: I wanted to give back to school in a way that would make people enjoy their experience more and nothing makes people quite as happy as being given free refreshments and the chance to socialise.
What is Sundowners and why should LBS members come along?
Taylor: Sundowners is an event for LBS, by LBS. It’s most Thursdays throughout the school year, allowing for students, faculty, and staff to meet and hang out over a couple of (free!) drinks. It’s run entirely by volunteer students as well so come say hi!
Leo: Sundowners is the happiest place at LBS. Every other Thursday we hand out free beer and wine. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from other streams and programmes and a great way to get partners involved in LBS life.
Have you got a party trick?
Taylor: Does throwing dance parties count?
Leo: I’m pretty good at flipping beer coasters and I can open a pop-top beer bottle with a whole variety of objects!
Which five celebrities would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Taylor: Maybe Ryan Reynolds, Anna Kendrick, James Corden… and 2 others… ooh or 5 single men from the Bachelor franchise.
Leo: Barack Obama, LeBron James, Lin Manuel Miranda, Tim Minchin, and Taylor Ceithaml!
Tell us something surprising about yourself…
Taylor: I consider myself a cheap-wine connoisseur.
Leo: I still can’t pour beer properly.
