Our People: the best of 2017
Throughout the year it has been our pleasure to introduce you to people from across the LBS community. Here are just five of the people and teams we have showcased this year. To be part of ‘Our People’ in 2018, please email the Internal Communications team.
Daniela Picariello, Peer Leader Programme Community Engagement Manager, told us about her experience working in the Career Centre, managing the Peer Leader Programme and social media updates for @LBS_Careers. One of her highlight moments was talking to an astronaut on the International Space Station.
Gary Dushnitsky, Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship, revealed that his students’ insights and way of thinking often reshapes his research on accelerators, crowdfunding platforms and venture capitalists.
After graduating from the MBA course in 2015, Zoe Vu and Alexander Lyakhotsky launched Pass the Keys, their own Airbnb property management company. They became part of the LBS Incubator Programme 2016 which provided extra support, feedback and networking to boost their business confidence.
As well as revealing the very best places to holiday in the Greek Islands, Elias Papaioannou, Professor of Economics, talked about his research focus on the role of history in shaping current development in Africa, cross-border capital flow and financial globalisation.
We recently met Barbara Bryla from the MBA Programme Office team, and learned what it’s like dealing with more than a thousand students each academic year. As well as setting up leadership skills and language sessions, and providing support for students, Barbara and the 16-strong team were preparing a programme to promote the MBA 50th anniversary.
