By Lauren French

Meet Molly Concannon MBA2017. Molly is the President of London Business School's Women Touch Rugby Club (WTRC) and hails from the USA, living in Philidelphia for five years before starting her adventure at LBS. Before LBS, Molly worked in Asset Management and Financial Services. She also ran cross country and track at university (University of Notre Dame) and is married to Brian, another MBA 2017 student.

Your training schedule must be quite intense alongside your studies and personal life. How do you achieve a good balance?

Athletics have always been a big part of my life and I find that I’m a better student when I’m working out and being active. It helps clear my mind and forces me to manage my time well.

What is the best piece of health advice you’ve ever been given?

A glass of wine with dinner is good for your heart.

What’s your favourite healthy treat on campus?

Hmmm… all my unhealthy favourites just came to mind (dark chocolate, the new candy wall in The Bite…).  My normal go-to for a snack is an apple and a coffee… not the most exciting answer but it’s cheap and delicious!

How do you relax?

Running - as weird as that sounds it helps clear my mind and de-stress. Otherwise, I love getting hooked on TV series with my husband, Brian. Our current obsession is The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime.

What has been your highlight with the team so far?

Duke! Duke hosts the “MBA Championships” each year in April and the trip was a highlight of my first year at LBS. In addition to having fun competing, the team really came together - both on the pitch and off the pitch.

What’s the best thing about being on the team?

The people. I know it’s a cliché answer but I’ve met so many amazing women through rugby. About 99% of us have never played before so we’re all learning together and getting to know each other in a different way than in the classroom. Thanks to WTRC I’ve also become close friends with many partners who I otherwise would not have had the chance to get to know as well. WTRC for life!
