25 years at LBS!

Please join us in congratulating Professor Costas Markides on recently celebrating 25 years at London Business School.

Professor Markides is an internationally acclaimed teacher and conference speaker, winning many teaching awards during his time at the School.  He has been repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 50 business thinkers by the Thinkers50, and is recognised as one of the world’s foremost experts on strategy and innovation.

To celebrate this fantastic milestone and in true London Business School style, the Dean, Deputy Dean and his colleagues joined Costas in the Windsor to congratulate him! (See the photos from the evening above.)

Costas said “I remember my first day at LBS back in 1990—the Dean at the time, Sir George Bain, came to see me to welcome me to the school.  During our chat he said to me: “Costas, you are exactly the kind of faculty we want to hire more of here at LBS—people with funny accents like you!”  I have spent the last 25 years explicitly trying not to lose this source of competitive advantage!”

“In the last 25 years, the school has changed a lot.  Not only has it grown in size but it has also changed fundamentally in many other respects—such as its culture, philosophy, values and the kind of people it hires.  Surviving through this transition is probably my biggest achievement at LBS!”
