Sporting glory for LBS at the MBA Rugby World Cup
LBS Rugby Club is celebrating after both its men’s and women’s teams made the MBA Rugby World Cup finals. The men then triumphed over Wharton Business School to win the competition.
Held at Duke University in North Carolina in April, this year’s tournament attracted 14 teams from the USA, Canada and Europe. The School’s men’s rugby team has won the tournament four times since its inception in 1980, with the previous win coming in 2010.
The success is even more remarkable as the team did not concede a single point.
The results were as follows:
LBS 21-0 YALE (group)
LBS 12-0 Harvard Business School (group)
LBS 21-0 Chicago BOOTH (group)
LBS 18-0 IVEY (semi-final)
LBS 15-0 WHARTON (final)

"After all the hard work the players put in throughout the season it was fantastic to see it pay off. We had incredible support on the sidelines from all our teammates and the LBS Women's Rugby Club which made a huge difference to the players on the field. To win every game without conceding a single point was pretty special."
