Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation comments on the latest iteration of Snap Inc.’s digital sunglasses for WIRED
Michael G Jacobides, Professor; Sir Donald Gordon Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation has been quoted in emerging technologies publication WIRED. The article examines the strategic motivations of Snap Inc. – the creators of Snapchat – in its decision to release Spectacles 3, the third iteration of its series of camera-fitted shades that allow users to capture and edit instant video content.
Among a number of potential pitfalls of the product discussed, including product positioning, target audience and privacy issues, Professor Jacobides commented that Augmented Reality (AR) in glasses could become “the ultimate frictionless computing device” if customers learn to embrace the technology.
