EMBA and MBA students win Entrepreneur Challenge prize
LBS MBA students, Taha Dar and Gil Razafinarivo, are determined to revolutionise the real estate industry with their property technology (proptech) online tool, Search Smartly.
Their project won a prize at this year’s This is Money’s Great British Entrepreneur Challenge in January 2018. As part of the prize, the Search Smartly team will be working with Startup Funding Club and angel investor, Andy Yates, to finalise a £40,000 co-investment.
Search Smartly disrupts outdated property search techniques. It uses smart technology to quickly match customers’ lifestyle priorities – such as gyms, social scene, local amenities and commuter distances – to their ideal rental property.
The idea for Search Smartly was born at LBS, when Dar and Razafinarivo swapped their first-hand knowledge of the high price of locating the right rental property. They agreed that there was a gap in the real estate industry in both useful technology and customer satisfaction. With London an ideal launchpad for a proptech venture, the innovative co-founders plan to close that gap with their online resource.
Taha Dar told This is Money that the investment will enable their team to recruit a software engineer and conduct a pilot product test over the summer this year.
