MBA student wins annual LBS impact award
Josh Bell has been awarded this year’s Bain Student Impact Award for his outstanding impact on the School's student community ths year.
Josh, MBA2019, was selected from a list of impressive nominees by management consultancy Bain & Company for his dedication towards establishing the LBS Impact Ventures Fund - the first of its kind in Europe. The fund will plan to make between £20,000 and £40,000 of equity investments, and allows students who are interested in exploring the impact investing space to increase their understanding of the process.
The Bain Student Impact Award is an annual initiative designed to recognise students who have had a significant and lasting impact on life at LBS. Every year, students go above and beyond to help improve the School experience for others. The award is designed to recognise these selfless acts.
Impact can take many forms. It can be through large scale activities such as organising a trek, running a conference or developing a club. It could also be more subtle – such as providing tutoring for peers, representing LBS at incoming student events or being a mentor for other programmes.
Charlotte Bax, MBA 2020 and Brian Manning, MBA2020 were named as runners-up. Charlotte and Brian were also recognised for their contributions to the student community, having co-organised and taught a comprehensive 10-week Python course during the autumn. This will continue to have a broad impact given the introduction of the LBS elective on Python.
Congratulations to Josh, Charlotte and Brian, and all of this year's nominees for their recognition.
