LBS takes silver at MBAT 2017

Last month, more than 200 students from LBS crossed the channel to compete in MBAT, a fun-filled Olympics between 21 elite business schools including Stanford, Oxford, and IE. No less than 1700 participants gathered at HEC Paris in Jouy-en-Josas for three days of partying, cheering, and – of course – intense effort.
Sports played ranged from rugby, basketball, and cricket through to rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, and petanque. Out of the 25 competitions that took place, LBS stood on the podium 18 times. We’ll remember an intense Badminton final won against ESADE, the out-and-out efforts of the rowers, and the domination of the beach volleyball team on “Normandy beach”.
The LBS climbing team led by Zaccaria Orlando, MBA2018, won a silver medal
Holding no grudge after nightfall (and arguably a few pints), participants partied together at the opening ceremony, cheered for their school at the “battle of the band”, and celebrated MBAT 2017 at a black-tie Gala in Paris.
On the last day, scores were tight between the top five schools, while the last finals were playing. As the whistle blew, players and supporters of the Demons stormed the field as the school just won a gold medal in football. Minutes earlier, the LBS rugby team dominated HEC 17-12 in the final.
With only one event left to unfold, LBS was in third place with five gold, seven silver, and four bronze medals on Saturday evening. Thanks to an outstanding performance topping the 'fusion dance' battle, LBS managed to catch the second place of the tournament and bring the silver cup back to London!
