Fitness and Wellbeing Centre getting into shape

As the weeks are flying by and we're well into our first term, there is increased activity in the depths of the Taunton Centre – and we're all excitedly awaiting the re-opening of our gym, swimming pool and studios.

We don’t do things by half measures, and there has been extensive remodelling of the old Fitness Centre. This ambitious project sees the Centre expanding from 330 to 550 sq/m, with our reception desk now located on the ground floor of Taunton Centre. There will be a brand new retail offering too, where you can grab your goggles, sportswear or protein shake before you head down for your workout.

With any refurbishment comes new kit! We're exceptionally proud of the new state-of-the-art spin studio. Leading-edge IC7 spin bikes allow the entire studio to be used for virtual classes, meaning no instructor - simply select the programme and you’re off! The fitness classes have been revamped but we have kept your favourites, including spin, yoga and body sculpt, as well as incorporating some new ones for you to try such as HulaFit and Slide & Glide.

Fitness and Wellbeing Centre Manager Georgie Peachey explains: “We have really tried to listen to all the feedback given to us by our users over the years. It has been incorporated into this fantastic new expansion programme, and no expense has been spared to procure the latest, high quality equipment to improve the experience for everyone. I can’t wait to get back in there!”

We are aiming to complete the majority of works by late October, so look out for more information across School channels about the opening in early November. We hope you are as excited as us to see the return of the new improved Fitness and Wellbeing Centre. Here are a few sneak peeks of what to expect…
