BackCampus refurbishments update Campus

Campus refurbishments update

The Campus Services team would like to update you on refurbishment projects and highlight some upcoming developments and works taking place during the autumn term. Hopefully you will have had the opportunity to visit Nash Lounge & Kitchen, or drop by the new shop@LBS in Plowden Reception – just two examples of successful projects completed across a busy summer period.

Collaborative Learning Classroom

In an exciting step, LBS is developing its first collaborative learning classroom. This will be located in the lower ground floor of the Plowden Building and will involve combining PLG01, 02 and 03. The new flat-floor teaching area will accommodate up to 96 students around six-person tables, complete with the latest technology, laptop docks and screen-sharing functionality. Works will begin in mid-September with some noisy periods, and access to the lower ground will be restricted to contractors only. The new classroom will be completed by the end of the year, ready for January.

Advancement temporary move

At the same time from early September, the whole of Advancement will be temporarily moving to Levels 1 and 2 of the Taunton Centre while the collaborative classroom project takes place, and to facilitate building works in the Andrews Centre. Campus Services will liaise with Advancement and the CLC project team to determine the best date to move back to the Andrews Centre. Please do take note of their new temporary location.

Houses 40 & 42

House 40 and House 42 are currently undergoing refurbishments and will be home to the School’s Research Centres and Institutes. Access to both houses will remain restricted for the duration of the works, but the Research Lab will still be open. Works will be complete by mid-September.

Programme Office relocation

Towards the end of October, four Programme Offices will be making the move to the West Wing of Sammy Ofer Centre. MiM, MFA and MAM offices will occupy space on the first floor, along with the relocated faculty lounge. MBA, MiF offices and Student Services will move to the fourth floor.

Career Centre relocation

Once the Programme Office relocation has been completed, you will see some activity around A-Wing as it undergoes some light refurbishment. The Career Centre will then move to the first floor, and to Laing House. Exact dates are to be confirmed, but moves are expected to take place at the end of November.

As usual, please keep an eye on Portal and Yammer for further announcements which will outline more localised works.

Thank you to everyone in advance for their patience and understanding while these projects and moves are carried out. For more information, or to report cleaning, maintenance or quality control issues please email estates@london.edu or call ext 7890.
